Water Access to Empower Rural Life

Although the Philippines is rich in natural bodies of water, access to clean water for domestic use is still a major challenge for the majority of areas where FREED operates. Potable water is not only vital for livelihood, but also promotes regional development and education, thus allowing for a higher quality of life.

Following a community’s successful completion of the ASCEND Resiliency Program, the WATER Life Program aims to provide reliable and convenient access to clean water for domestic use through solar-powered technologies and a community-centered operating model. When designing a given system, FREED takes the time to understand every aspect of the water system including:

  • seasonal variability in the water supply

  • current as well as future community water demands

  • environmental and technical sustainability
